Biocourier is a licensed, ISO & ADR-certified courier company based in Athens, collecting and delivering across the whole of Greece and overseas. We take the whole job end to end - certified packaging, collection, temperature control, the written record and delivery - with containers holding anything from −196 °C to +25 °C.
Types of shipments

- Cryopreserved material Embryos, eggs and sperm in liquid nitrogen, UN1977, in vessels we own; and stem cells, from the birth to the bank or from one bank to another.

You do not have to source the right packaging yourself. Tell us what you are sending and the temperature it has to hold, and we bring it with us.
- Certified single-use UN3373B sample pouches, and certified absorbent sleeves.
- Certified and calibrated insulated boxes holding +2 °C to +8 °C, for 48 to 120 hours.
- Certified and calibrated insulated boxes holding −20 °C to −70 °C, for 48 to 120 hours, using dry ice UN1845.
- Our own liquid nitrogen vessels - dry shippers, UN1977 - for transport at −196 °C.
- Digital dataloggers inside the packaging. When the shipment lands, the record comes to you as a pdf.
- For pallet loads, temperature-controlled trucks: room, chilled or frozen.
We import the packaging ourselves, from the leading manufacturers of materials for heat-sensitive cargo, and it holds its temperature regardless of the conditions outside.

Stem cells, from the birth to the bank
Best practice guidelines specify that stem cells should ideally be transferred within the first 24 hours, and no more than 48 hours after the birth and their collection. That window does not stretch, which is why the shipment is arranged before the birth rather than after it.
Transport is always at +2 °C to +8 °C, in the appropriate insulated packaging, following the guidelines of the stem cell bank of the Academy of Athens (ΙΙΒΕΑ), and delivered to the stem cell bank of your choice.

From the birth to the bank
The sample is collected after the birth and reaches the bank inside the window its protocol sets. Our support staff are available 24 hours a day, because a birth does not wait for office hours.

From one bank to another
When a family emigrates or changes provider, a sample that is already frozen has to move. That is the same job as any other cryogenic shipment, in the same liquid nitrogen vessels we own.
